That tells you just how rare Roussanne is in Ontario.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eThis blend of almost equal portions of the three sister grapes of the Rhône Valley, Roussanne, Marsanne, and Viognier, was fermented and aged mostly in second- and third-fill French oak barrels. The result is a rich and balanced white blend with truly unique characteristics.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eOn the nose, aromas of poached pear, orange blossom, marzipan, peach, lemon curd, and ginger. The palate is rich and lifted, showing a perfect balance between alcohol and acidity. Flavours of tropical fruit, including grilled pineapple, are joined by orange marmalade, lemon curd, vanilla, and fruit salad juice. The finish is long, showing great evolution and plenty of oak spice. Coming from one of the best Chardonnay blocks in Niagara, on the Grimsby Hillside, think Thomas Bachelder and Leaning Post, the flinty finish and salty minerality highlight a spectacular finish and reveal the grape source with grace and precision. The texture is creamy and thick, but somehow remains balanced. Flavours of yellow plum, apricot jam, orange peel, and poached apple are joined by cinnamon, pie crust, and white pepper. This is super layered and complex. There’s even a stony component on the finish that takes this wine to the next level.
