The Merlot was aged in French Oak barrels (15% new) and the Cab Franc was aged in concrete in order to preserve its fruity character. On the nose, you’ll discover great aromas of cassis, red cherry, blueberry jam, a burst of cedar and a hint of fresh herbs. The palate is broad and generous, soft and compelling, highlighting flavours of raspberry, blue plum, current, cassis, mocha and tobacco on a long finish. This last step reveals a burst of white pepper, chocolate and clove, that enhances the finish greatly. I wouldn’t be surprised if this wine can age for 10 years, even if this was not the original intent for this wine. Well done Ilya Senchuk.
