Here's exactly why I rated these wines the way I did:

Dobbin Blanc de Blancs Sparkling 🔥93+pts

$75.00

From 100% estate Chardonnay from Dobbin's Twenty Mile Bench vineyard, this wine was fermented in a mix of stainless steel, oak barrels, and oak puncheons.

The magic of this wine happened on the second day. While very directional and austere blanc de blanc style upon opening, it developed a gracious texture after breathing and opening up.

On the nose, lemon, yellow apple, white flower and baked goods. The palate goes from lemon and lime changing towards yellow apple and lemon meringue over time. The saline finish has been there from the opening.

This is only the second disgorgement of the 2021 vintage, with 36 months on lees. Very much looking forward to the second release with 48 months on lees.

Worth every penny of the asking price!

(Carl Boucher, March 18, 2026).

2022 Dobbin "Estate" Pinot Noir 🔥 93pts

$80.00

The 2022 vintage marks the very first Estate Pinot Noir from Dobbin and, to be honest, the quality here is a real surprise. From just five-year-old vines, I did not expect this level of depth and complexity.

Aged 22 months in barrel, including 15% new oak, this wine shows what Peter Gamble and his team were able to achieve in this very compelling vintage on the Twenty Mile Bench.

On the nose, it is earthy and mossy, with notes of forest floor, potpourri, dried cranberry, crushed raspberry, and blue plum. Tobacco, cedar, and oak spice also begin to reveal themselves with air.

The palate is lifted, layered, and textural, impressively complex, showing flavours of ripe, sweet raspberry, cranberry, red currant, dark cherry, sweet tobacco, and a hint of graphite. The finish is long, long, and persistent.

The oak is well integrated, the tannins are beautifully dispersed throughout, and this is a wine that should age comfortably for a decade.

2021 "Black Cap" Riesling 🔥 93pts 🔥 Exclusive Pre-Release

$60.00

A gorgeous Riesling, where texture meets ripeness and complexity. 2021 has a lot of potential for Riesling lovers in Niagara, and this one includes 20% botrytis-affected grapes, which brings a lot of layers and outstanding complexity.

On the nose, a great mix of minerality, citrus fruits, apricot and beeswax, and a palate rich with Meyer lemon, grapefruit, apricot, ginger, and honey. The finish really lingers for a while with a great blend of spice and flinty minerality. This wine can easily age a dozen years or more.  (Carl Boucher, March 24, 2026).

From three different premium sources of Riesling, including their own Twenty Mile Bench Estate and another one on the Four Mile Creek in Niagara-on-the-Lake, this wine is a stylistic snapshot of Dobbin’s Rieslings. On the nose, expressive and appealing aromas of apricot, beeswax, lime, peach, jasmine and just a slight hint of flint. The palate is soft and sensual with great balance between acidity and sweetness. The 15g of residual sugar is flawlessly integrated. Flavours of salty lime, peach pit, apricot, and honey suckle showcase the first part of the flavour profile while baked apple pie, melon, wet stone and white spices can best describe the back-end of this Riesling. The versatility of this wine is on full display here and the food pairing potential is endless. When tasted on the second day, this wine has shown great improvement from the day before, which tells me there is much more to come with this one. I’m very intrigued! from Dr. Jamie Goode:

Purchased grapes from two estates. Complex and lively with a core of rich, sweet citrus fruit with a bit of structure and lovely crystalline quality. So enticing with a sense of freshness and also some rich fruit. Really serious with great weight and focus. This is remarkable. 94/100

Oh wow, what texture! What colour! What extreme complexity. It was harvested with multiple picks, the secret sauce of Peter Gamble and Ann Sperling, and spent 18 months on its lees. 2021 was rich with botrytis, which reflects very well in this wine.

On the nose, I'm greeted by lemon meringue, followed by salty lime, apricot jam, and a hint of floral compotents. The palate is textural, rich in flavours, and magnificently layered, with a blend of apricot, lemon, white peach and a tonne of salinity on the finish.

This wine might just outlast any other Ontario wine from the 2021 vintage, across the board. (Carl Boucher, March 24, 2026).

2020 Dobbin “White Cap” Estate Riesling 🔥 94pts

$65.00

Sold out. Only available in the six bottle vertical.

This tiny two-barrel production of Estate fruits from Dobbin’s Twenty Mile Bench vineyard delivers a very exciting and promising result. The 2020 vintage allowed the phenolic ripeness to hit maximum potential and the result is extraordinary. Rich, complex, soft, structural and cerebral, this Riesling has the potential to age gracefully for at least another decade. The nose is bright and crisp with dominant aromas of Key lime, orange blossom, jasmine, yellow “golden” apple, apricot but also a hint of ginger and wet stone.

There are two noticeable highlights with this wine: one is the superb complexity, which is very surprising for such a young vineyard. Second is the length. I swear, the flavours stick to your palate and the tip of your tongue for at least 30+ seconds with such great pulse and energy. Speaking of flavours, you can expect a wave of orchard fruits on the opening led by peach, pear and apricot, followed by a line of citrus on the mid palate, which lifts up the entire profile of the wine beautifully.

The finish delivers ginger, white pepper, salty caramel and stony minerality. I’m super excited to follow the progression of this wine over time. (Carl Boucher, September 18, 2024).

This was the first Riesling released by Dobbin, and might still be the finest of them all to this day. Mother Nature was extremely kind for white wine production in 2019, and this Riesling showcases that potential incredibly well.

Acidity, intensity, vibrancy, energy. On the nose, a great blend of floral components and citrus fruit, with classic Niagara Bench Riesling aromas. The palate displays Meyer lemon, zesty lime, grapefruit, nectarine, and lots - lots! - of stoney minerality. A salty component also mingles with a gingery finish.

This wine is truly one of a kind. (Carl Boucher, March 24, 2026).

2020 Dobbin Chardonnay 🔥 93+pts

$85.00

Exclusive library release. Collector Price: $75

We have spoken plentifully about the 2020 vintage and how highly that growing season rates in the hierarchy of Ontario vintages. The second release of Dobbin Chardonnay makes no exception to the 2020 profile: bold, rich, powerful and complex. This Chardonnay is all about ripe, luscious fruits.

On the nose, aromas of perfectly ripe lemon, lemon cream, pear, chamomile, with also a hint of stone fruits like apricot and fresh peach. The palate is extravagant and broad, exuding tremendous concentration on the mid-palate and a spectacular finish. The flavours of yellow apple, Meyer lemon, fresh peach and hazelnut all come together nicely before a precise wave of saline minerality hits your tongue, followed by a hint of white pepper to close out the experience.

This wine needs another two years in the cellar before it truly hits the level that I expect it to reach, but of course, it is highly enjoyable now as well. The length of this Chardonnay is very impressive and justifies the premium price point. (Carl Boucher, October 20, 2024).

Re-tasted March 24, 2026. Even for a warm 2020 vintage, this wine hasn't hit it's downturn yet. I expect at least another 18 months of full potential.

2019 Dobbin Chardonnay 🔥 94+pts

1.5L Magnum

Regular: $300

Exclusive library release. Collector Price: $260

This is the initial vintage of Dobbin Chardonnay and you can already put that in the Rockstar category. When you have Peter Gamble & Ann Sperling leading the way, you can expect grand results, and this very wine shows just that.

At this stage of its curve, this Chardonnay has hit some tremendous heights, starting with pin-point precision and world class complexity. Stunning and expressive aromas of bright citrus, honeyed flowers, subtle toasty oak notes, vanilla and caramel define the aromatics. This small production wine has a super focused but dense mouthfeel, terrific balance, and bright, mouth-watering acidity that will help this wine outlast the 2020 vintage Chardonnays. On the palate, notes of Aurora Golden Apple and lemon curd slowly emerge, opening out to a wave of stone fruits and quince, with a beeswax sensation on the mid-palate, followed by allspice, toasted almonds and a salty, wet stone, chalky minerality on the finish.

The medium-bodied but textural palate (read: very silky texture) delivers all the ingredients to make this wine a serious contender for the Top 10 Wines of the Year list. (Carl Boucher, April 20, 2024, re-tasted October, 2024). Only 190 cases made.

2019 Dobbin Cabernet Blend 🔥Exclusive Release

$90.00

Collector Price: $80

"This is a blend of 85% Cabernet Franc from the Twenty Mile Bench and 15% Merlot from Four Mile Creek, all sourced fruit. The fruit was hand-picked over two days, wild fermented and aged in neutral French oak for 20 months. This has a beautifully perfumed nose of pure black cherries, cassis, ripe raspberries, sweet herbs, anise and a deft touch with fine oak spices. The fine-grained tannins on the palate offer structure to go with the juicy red berries, blackberries, pepper, mulled herbs, anise/licorice, and spice in an elegant, concentrated style that is lifted and long on the tangy finish. Can cellar until 2034."
