We recently spent time with Danielle Hutton at Fairview Cellars — one of the South Okanagan’s original red wine estates (and they DO make an amazing Chardonnay too!).

This week, we've got access to rare, cellar-aged releases going back to 2015, many of which you won’t find anywhere else, including my #3 wine of 2025 (95🔥 points).

This is what our Canadian winery discoveries are about: access, context, and value.

2023 Fairview Cellars Two Hoots | 91pts

$40.35

This value proposition clearly over-delivers for the price point and greets you with amazing aromatics. True to the Fairview Cellars style, this is a full body and powerful wine, where the leading grape, Cab Franc, shines. Nose of crushed raspberries, blue plum, red cherry, potpourri and cedar. The palate has freshness as well as a full mouthfeel, somehow feeling lighter than the 14.5% suggests (in a great way). The flavours include cherry pie, ripe raspberry, chocolate brownies, and light white pepper on the finish. The tannins are still tenacious, bringing some torque to the wine.

2022 Fairview Cellars Chardonnay 🔥 92+pts

$39.20

A bold, rich yet balanced South Okanagan Chardonnay. It showcases a wonderful texture, and because of a nice frame of acidity, this wine can please many different types of Chardonnay lovers. The oak is definitely at the forefront of the profile, but the acidity shines throughout. On the nose, notes of apple pie, white flowers, and tropical fruits. On the palate, yellow apple, caramel, almond, pineapple, and a long and evolving oak spice from mid-palate all the way to the finish.

2022 Fairview Cellars Decorum "Premier Series"🔥93pts 🔥Exclusive Pre-Release

$57.60

I love a Merlot-dominant Cab Sauv blend any day. The softness of the Merlot pairs so well with the structure of the Cab Sauv. This version gives you a clear snapshot of the exciting potential of both varietals in the South Okanagan. This wine is bold, yet it shows elegance: a characteristic I've found as a special signature across many wines from BC's prolific 2022 vintage. Layered, oaky, complex, with rigid tannins that will soften with time. This wine has all the makings of a Rock Star and will reward time in the cellar. Nose of blackberry, black cherry, a hint of sage and mint. The palate is supple, bold, rich, layered and inclusive of black cherry, plum, dark chocolate, tobacco, with a finish of black pepper, toastiness, and all the goodness of New French Oak.

2023 Fairview Cellars Cabernet Franc "Premier Series" | 91pts

$49.55

A very classic Cab Franc! And, a great example of why this varietal is growing in popularity. It's approachable yet complex. Medium plus body, with power. Textural, with bright acidity. All in all, incredibly well balanced. Nose and palate are classic with a hint of floral, raspberry and cherry, mirrored on the palate with the addition of a hint of savouriness, plum, and evolving spice on the finish.

2021 Fairview Cellars Merlot "Premier Series"🔥93+pts

$41.50

This has to be one of my favourite Merlots from the South Okanagan - of all time. Bold, rich, and powerful: EXACTLY what I would expect from a hot vintage from this region. Rich in texture, deep and layered...and important to mention that the 15.5% ABV has not at all impaired the balance and quality of the delivery. The nose is loaded with dark and blue fruits, a hint of dark chocolate, and cedar nuance. The palate is layered and powerful, showcasing cassis, black cherry, blackberry, chocolate pudding, and a hint of juniper. A muscular wine with exceptional oak integration and a lingering finish.

2022 Fairview Cellars The Bear "Premier Series"🔥94+pts

$57.60

One of the most complex wines I've tasted recently and definitely one of my candidates for Top 10 Wines of 2026! The Bear is absolutely stunning, with an incredible level of purity, precision and refinement. The aromatics are filled with nuance, from cassis to graphite to floral notes. The nose alone is worth it's weight in gold. The palate is charming, seductive, but also expressive and brash. Flavours of ripe dark fruits, blackberry, black cherry, blue plum, vanilla, and oak spice. There's a charcoal-like minerality on the finish where the tannins hang forever and a pop of acid past the mid-palate makes your mouth water. I can't wait to put this alongside a premium Bordeaux in a blind tasting and see the reactions!

2015 Fairview Cellars "Iconoclast" Cabernet Sauvignon 🔥 95pts

$120.85

95pts Carl's Wine Club | Top 5 Wines of 2025

One of my top five wines of the year. Absolutely WOW. Made from 100% estate Cabernet Sauvignon, from the perfect vintage for this varietal, this wine spent 36 months in French oak, with 75% new barrels. That extended barrel program adds structure, velvety texture, spice, and polish around a deep core of dark fruit. Winemaker Bill Eggert crafted this wine a decade ago — a classic, confident expression of South Okanagan Cabernet.

The nose is packed with black cherry, blackberry, blueberry compote, cassis, dark chocolate, and pencil lead, supported by notes of toffee, crushed rock, white pepper, and obvious French oak spice. The palate is full-bodied, rich, powerful, and velvety, with dark berries leading into a long, refined finish. Tannins are firm but integrated, showing how well this wine has evolved in bottle. This is a small-batch, cellar-aged Cabernet was just released to the public last week. It has been resting in the Fairview Cellars cave until now, waiting for the right moment.

Carl’s Wine Club members are the first recipients. A standout South Okanagan Cabernet …an absolute masterpiece.

2016 Fairview Cellars "Iconoclast" Cabernet Sauvignon 🔥 94pts

2016 Fairview Cellars "Madcap" 🔥 93pts

$56.34

Madcap is a red blend honouring the nickname given to former Fairview owner and founder, Bill Eggert, whose pursuit of big reds in the South Okanagan was originally viewed as a crazy endeavour. Soft, silky, layered delivery across the board.

Nose black berry, black cherry, cassis and vanilla. Alcohol is well balanced and the tanins are sensational - long lasting and not agressive. An incredible wine for the price point.

The palate expresses black and blue fruits - black cherry, blackcurrant, blueberry - plus espresso, cocoa, tobacco and oak profile past the mid-palate. The finish is long and evolving with softness and complexity.

Pairings: roast duck with cassis jus, pork tenderloin with cherry compote

2017 Fairview Cellars "Madcap" | 92pts

$50.59

As enjoyable as the 2016 but a very different version. From a cooler vintage, the dark fruits, tanins and acidity are more pronounced. This wine is just getting started, and I'm so impressed.

Nose is bright, savoury and herbacious, with black berry, black cherry, chocolate and cassis. The palate is energetic and soo vibrant: the tanins hang for a very long time, and the finish evolves into pepper and spice.

  • BC Okanagan Valley VQA Golden Mile Bench
  • 55.2% Merlot, 30.1% Cab Sauv, 14.7% Cab Franc

Dry Wine | 14.8% ABV | Drink from 2025 to 2030

Pairings: herb-grilled lamb chops, steak frites with chimichurri

2018 Fairview Cellars "Madcap" | 90pts

$45.99

More closely resembling the 2017 profile than the 2016, and a slightly lighter feel than the previous two vintages.

Savoury nose with tobacco, herbaciousness and dark fruits. Palate is similar with dark fruits, a hint of blue fruits, crushed raspberry, tobacco, leather plus evolving layers and Christmas spice on the finish.

This wine is a little shy at the moment and can benefit from decanting. Carl Boucher, February 4, 2026.

How does shipping work?

The wineries ship these wines to you via couriers like Canada Post, UPS, Purolator, ATS or GLS and the wines arrive right to your doorstep! No need to spend time or gas or manpower to visit a store.
