This might be the best 2019 of the trio. Very classic with sublime varietal characteristics. The weight is perfect, the structure is solid, the length is impressive, so everything is in line to make a spectacular wine. Fresh bright and concentrated, this is an “Old World” expression of Cabernet Franc with superb elegance. On the nose, aromas of cherrywood, leather, dark cherry, red currant, vanilla and cedar make their way through a veil of purple flowers. The palate displays great texture for the 2019 vintage and offers flavours of ripe red berries, mocha, earthy notes of potpourri and caramel before finishing on a long and lingering oak spice-like sequence. Tasting this wine side-by-side with the 2020 vintage will give you the perfect snapshot of the difference between the two vintages. Personally, on the Cab Franc, I’ll give the nod to the 2019 for its elegance and complexity.
