2019 River Stone “Stones Throw”

The length of this wine is absolutely astonishing, and definitely the most rewarding attribute showcased in this “Old World” style Bordeaux blend. The vibrant energy, stunning minerality and on point acidity makes it a wine of distinction. On the nose, expressive aromas of black berry, black currant, violet and pencil shaving display perfectly the stylistic approach of this wine. The palate is directional and focused with flavours of blackberry, dark cherry, raspberry, a hint of orange peel, velvet-textured tannins and herbal edges. This has character and definition and is so youthful still, with tannins on the ripe, grippy side but with a nice underlying spice and touches of pepper, cinnamon and toasted cedar. Structured and persistent with depth and lasting power. This wine will age for a decade without blinking. (CWC, Sept 25, 2023
