2021 Da Silva “Outwash Vineyard” Cabernet Sauvignon

Located South of the Black Sage Bench, in Oliver – BC, the Outwash Vineyard is a pristine source of fruits for Richard Da Silva. From a challenging vintage, the mineral and stoney expression of this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon stands out. I believe the best of this wine has not come yet and we’re in the patience game for those that can hold on to it a while longer. Tight and compact on the outset, this medium+ body wine shows a tonne of promise as it improved significantly on the second day open. On the nose, aromas of black raspberry, cassis, blackberry tobacco and graphite are dominant. On the front-palate, blueberry and blackberry puree flavours that are polished in feel, plus eucalyptus, dark chocolate and sweet tobacco leaves on the mid-palate, with subtle cast iron and savoury accents through the finish. A significant yet masterful hand with the toast allows the fruits and the spices to sing together in this version.
