The Tractor & Vines Pinot Noir rosé might be the only Cult rosé in the making in Canada, but believe me… it’s happening! Daniel Bontorin is known as “the Rosé Guy” and he does live up to the reputation. The 2022 is his 60th rosé to date since he made the first Le Vieux Pin “Vaila” in 2005. From a small parcel of 15 year old vines in Summerland, 25% of this wine was fermented and aged in neutral French oak barrels, to bring texture, structure and complexity. The colour of this wine has never been as “Provence” as this year: very pale with a salmon hue. The Pinot Noir juice had only two hours of skin contact, which helped preserve the freshness of the fruits. On the nose, the aromas are shy and discrete, announcing a wine with elegance and precision. Mandarin, sweet lemon, lemon drop and orange blossom comes up in a distinctive fashion. On the palate, you’ll find incredible finesse, precision, purity and intensity. Flavours of mountain strawberry, lemon confit, citrus peel, blood orange, yellow apple, Asian pear and white flowers all line up in a masterful sequence that leaves you asking ”is this really happening?” This wine reaches completely new heights for Canadian rosé. (CWC, 12/4/23). 239 cases made.
