2023 Code “Single Clone” Chardonnay

This is a fruity, lively, well rounded and well balanced Chardonnay which hits all the chords as a satisfying and pleasant sipping wine. But more than that, it’s also moderately complex and brings more than you might expect to the experience. From the Code Estate vineyard in OK Falls, this wine was fermented in stainless steel and rested in neutral oak for a period of 8 months in order to create texture but also to preserve the great fruit typicity that “Code Terroir” has to offer. This wine is fresh with expressive aromas of pear, apple, guava, melon and a hint of mango on the nose. The flavours on the palate suggest golden delicious apple, freshly picked apricot, yellow plum, mingled with cinnamon, orange cream, nectarine, and then a long mineral, dry finish. In my opinion, the 2023 vintage is the best Chardonnay I have seen coming from Code to date – well done!
