2020 Rust “Okanagan Valley” Syrah

From the Ferreira Vineyard on the Black Sage Bench in Oliver, this single vineyard Syrah stands out for its floral component, freshness and aging potential. Tightly knight, more directional than the other 3, this wine starts slow on the front-palate but gains power and precision as it goes on, just like a masterful crescendo! On the nose, expressive aromas of violets and pot-pourri, black currant and black licorice, with a hint of fresh herbs and grilled meat. The palate is fairly reflective of the aromas, shining significantly on the second day with more power and richness, offering a stunning velvety texture. Flavours of mixed dark fruits, coffee grinds, leather and BBQ sauce, before the blend of white, pink and black pepper hit your tongue for a spectacular finish. It seems like this one has the best aging potential of the group. This can become the highest rated of the four 2020 Rust Syrahs in a half decade.
