2020 Rust “Similkameen Valley” Syrah

This Syrah shows power, richness, concentration and spectacular fruit extraction. Sourced from the Lazy River Vineyard in South Cawston in the rugged Similkameen Valley, of which Syrah was planted in 2002, and aged for 18 months in French & Hungarian oak barrels (including 33% new). This is the softest, the most expressive and the most ready-to-drink wine of this group of four Single Vineyard Syrahs. On the nose, aromas of dark cherry, cherrywood, blueberry sauce, a hint of smoked meat and black forest cake are singing and exploding out of your glass. Surprisingly approachable on the palate with a mix of sweet dark fruits, olive mix, vanilla, bright minerality like charcoal and wet rock, a hint of cigar, dusty/rustic tannins and a very, very long peppery finish. A super soft texture also highlights this Rockstar wine, totally defining the rugged Similkameen Valley. This is wine of the year material!
