2021 Rust Chardonnay

From the Lost Horn Vineyard in OK Falls, of Clone 76 old vines planted in 1990, this Chardonnay displays great richness and flavour definition, while offering great structure and acidity components. Despite the 10 months in French oak and a generous 40% of new barrels, the oak profile is fairly well integrated and suits the Clone 76 very well. This is the first time using the wild fermentation method for this site and it turned out very well. On the nose, you will get aromas of citrus, pear, orange blossom and chamomile. The palate offers grilled pineapple, wrapped around a citrus frame, tangerine, vanilla and classic oak spices on the finish. There is an undeniable OK Falls minerality which appears in the form of flintiness and salinity. From my favourite sub-appelation for Chardonnay, this wine is very authentic of the site and the Rust brand.
