2022 Blasted Church Viognier

Fruity and approachable, this Viognier is medium+ body but not waxy and not too heavy: in other words, very well-balanced. 25% of the juice was fermented in barrels which helps with texture, volume and complexity. Aromas of apricot, peach, pineapple and mandarin are lifted by a subtle but easily perceptible white flower component including chamomile and lilac. The palate is well textured offering flavours of orchard fruits like pear, peach and apricot but also other tropical components like honeydew and pineapple. The finish brings a slight citrus peel bitterness aspect which helps close the experience with freshness. The spices on the back palate are also typical of the Viognier spectrum highlighting substantial clove and white pepper.
