The 2019 vintage was cooler than average and varietals like Merlot will require more time to develop in bottle. Even if this Merlot still shows tightness and youth five years after harvest, you can tell this elegant wine is coming to its own. The nose offers aromas of ripe blue fruits, licorice, cedar box and a hint of herbaciousness. The palate is nervy and edgy, but you can feel the smooth transition towards softness at the moment. The long and grippy tannins are starting to melt into the wine. Flavours of dark cherry, cassis, dark and blue plums, black currant, tobacco and a wet stone/graphite type of minerality. An extremely long finish is one of the greatest features of this wine.
