This is very impressive, exceptional value for a Chardonnay at this quality to price ratio. We discovered this wine during our Chardonnay marathon back in May 2024, and it really stood out among 112 other Chardonnays (most at a higher price point), which is a big accomplishment. Naturally fermented in neutral oak barrels, this wine was aged for 10 months in the same vessels offering a terrific snapshot of the Southbrook organic & biodynamic portfolio. On the nose, great mix of tropical and orchard fruits in the like of yellow “golden gala” apple, white peach, and cantaloupe, while the floral component surge in a form of white chamomile and orange blossom. The palate delivers a soft and creamy texture, on a medium acidity, while flavours of blood orange, apple crumble, peach, nuts and caramel interact with each other seamlessly. The finish highlights an obvious saline component layered on top of a discreet but enjoyable white pepper. (Carl Boucher, October 9, 2024).
