Pure, clean and feisty, this 2021 Gamay is filled with energy and cerebral intricacy. There is a certain complexity that forces me to think and challenges me to dig deeper into my wine intellect. Challenging but satisfying. This is much more than your simple crushable Gamay. On the nose, typical aromas of raspberry, cranberry, potpourri, violets, game-y meat, but also cedar, cloves and coffee. There is a lot going on in that newly released wine, but all the elements are in line and well structured. The palate is sophisticated, super fresh, layered and profound, delivering flavours of freshly crushed raspberry, cherry pie, a hint of cranberry acidity, red licorice, earthy undertones sitting on a long and lingering finish. This Gamay is relatable to a Beaujolais Morgon Cru from its ripeness of fruits and sweet edges. I’m a big fan!!! Serve slightly chilled for maximum enjoyment. (Carl Boucher, October 9, 2024).
