2024 Divergence Semillon - Sauv Blanc 🔥 93pts

$33.00

I remember being impressed with winemaker Jeff Moote's first-ever Sem-Sauv, but this one is definitely a stand out in what I have tasted from him so far! Both varietals were fermented and aged in 100% neutral French oak barriques, which gives great texture and preserves the fruit integrity.

The nost mixes vanille and flower with an expressive and entertaining boquet of sweet lemon and lime, and also yellow apple and blood orange. The palate is absolutely divine with precision, layers, complexity, energy and defined edges. You'll find a great mix of yellow apple, Meyer lemon, passionfruit, and pink grapefruit.

At this price, it's a steal of a deal for the quality you receive, and I can see exactly why it won a Gold medal.

(Carl Boucher, October 7, 2026).

2023 Divergence Riesling Brut (375ml) | 90+pts

$20.00

This cute half-bottle of bubbly is first and foremost very well priced, secondly, very convenient, and third, very delicious and enjoyable.

Crafted from a single vineyard in the Vinemount Ridge, this wine is balanced and dry. The nose if filled with orchard fruits and white flowers, with a hint of petrol that clearly shows you this is from the Riesling grape. The palate has energy and complexity, and the finish lingers for quite a while. (Carl Boucher, October 7, 2026).

2024 Divergence MVR Bock Vineyard | 92pts

$33.00

Made exclusively from the Bock Vineyard on the St. David's Bench, with almost equal parts of Marsanne, Viognier, and Roussanne, the three key grapes from the Rhone Valley. More and more, I am finding exciting and excellent renditions of these varietals from Niagara!

The nose is fully orchard fruit with pear, peach, apricot and a bit of lemon meringue. The palate is generous, voluminous, and also balanced with precision and great acidity levels. The palate reflects the nose with freshly picked apricots, white peach, pear pie, and a slight brown sugar and meatiness on the finish. I love the texture of this wine, and the novelty of an MVR like this is extremely exciting also.  (Carl Boucher, October 7, 2026).

2024 Divergence Gamay Mio Vineyard | 92pts

$28.00

I've been a fan of every version of Jeff Moote's Gamay, and this new version has me very excited. Sourced from the outstanding Mio Vineyard on the Lincoln Lakeshore, this small batch Gamay stands out for purity and varietal precision.

On the nose, it's potpourri, violet, hint of mushroom, red berry fruits, and Christmas cake aromas. The palate leads me to a medium-plus body Gamay with perfect concentration and alcohol levels. Crushed raspberry, sweet tobacco leaves, and a very long and spicy finish. I love this wine - a stand out!

This wine was bottled recently in Fall of 2026, so if you get it as a pre-release, you may want to give it a bit of time in your cellar. (Carl Boucher, October 7, 2026).

2024 Divergence Red 🔥 93pts

$33.00

More and more, the 2024 vintage is being compared to the 2020 vintage, which was the 'Vintage of the Century' in Niagara, particularly for red wines. With the varietals in this Red, expectations are high, especially given this promising vintage.

The nose is meaty, filled with black and blue fruits, tobacco, and licorice. The palate is layered and very well balanced, long and complex. You'll find flavours of blueberry, blackberry, fresh raspberry, dark chocolate, and black licorice. The barrel expression comes in closer to the finish and brings lots of black pepper and a bit of cinnamon. (Carl Boucher, October 7, 2026).

2023 Divergence Cabernet Bock Vineyard | 91pts

$38.00

It's rare and exciting to discover a blend that is Cab Sauv dominant from Niagara, and 2023 is a great vintage for this varietal after a warm and dry fall. This wine spent 18 months in new and used French oak.

Classic Cab Sauv aromas like pencil lead, licorice, dark fruits, but also the floral components of Petit Verdot. The flavours are filled with black fruit, dark chocolate, tobacco, vanilla, and a long, mineral finish. The lower alcohol and high energy really stand out on this wine. 2024 Divergence Signature Pinot Noir | 92pts

$59.00

I opened this bottle live on Wine Wednesday, so this was a true first impression. Jeff Moote’s first-ever Pinot Noir, from the Bock Vineyard on St. David’s Bench. And I’ve got to say, this is a very promising beginning!

We had been having a lot of fun with the word “Pinosity” during our weekend in Prince Edward County. For me, that’s the unmistakable Old World character of Pinot Noir: earthiness, mushroom, wet forest floor, flowers, and little touches of tobacco and cedar. This wine has that Pinosity. On the nose AND on the palate.

This is a wine of elegance. At only 12% alcohol, it’s lighter in texture and fruit expression, but there’s beautiful definition in the tannins, lovely edges, length, and complexity. It reminded me of some of the elegant St. David’s Bench Pinots I’ve loved from Thomas Bachelder. Not a direct comparison, but that same sense of finesse is there.

At $59, we’re certainly in the premium category, but single-vineyard Niagara Pinot of this quality is becoming harder to find at a modest price.

This is still very young, and I would give it a couple of years in the cellar to let everything come together. That said, I was more than impressed straight out of the bottle. I started at 92 points, with plenty of interest in seeing how it will evolve over the following days. A very exciting start for Jeff’s Pinot Noir program! (Carl Boucher, tasted live October 21, 2026).

2025 Divergence Signature Roussanne | 93pts

$71.00

We thought that 2023 and 2024 were great sequential vintages, and now we have to add 2025 as well. Winemakers are really excited with what is starting to show from 2025, and this Roussanne is one of the very first wines we have a chance to taste from this vintage.

This white wine is built like a red: bold, rich and concentrated. Holy smokes, at 14,7% ABV…I wondered at first…but the result is truly impressive!

Texture, texture, texture. I blind tasted multiple Niagara wine lovers, and the reaction is spectacular: this wine is a blockbuster. On the nose; Pineapple, ripe apricot, and lots of wildflowers. On the palate, I may have already mentioned lots of texture 😊 the level of acidity is impressive and keeps things lifted. Flavours of grilled pineapple, passionfruit, lemon meringue, and toasted barrel notes, flinty minerality and white spice on the spectacular finish. If you’re into light and delicate white wines, you might want to pass on this one. But if you like a bolder white wine and you enjoy oak, this is a must try!

2023 Divergence Cab Franc Petit Verdot (1.5L MAGNUM) | 92+pts

$86.00

I love everything about this wine, starting with the size 😊 which is perfect for the upcoming holiday season. I also love the price, at $86 for a Magnum. Here’s the story: the plan was to have 100% Petit Verdot, but when the grapes arrived at the winery, the quantity was only a fraction of what was expected.

After some thought, winemaker Jeff Moote decided to put that Petit Verdot into a blend with the star red grape of Niagara, Cab Franc, and produce only 150 bottles in Magnum format. Both varietals came from the prestigious Grimsby Hillside Vineyard, and they spent 15 months in new and used French oak, which is the usual process for reds in Jeff Moote’s portfolio. The result is a very expressive wine, energy, and texture, with floral aromas, black forest cake, beautiful dark and deep colour from the Petit Verdot, and a long spicy finish.

The flavours include red and black cherry, blackberry, licorice, vanilla, and the tannins are soft and dry. I’m expecting the finish to get more juicy over time, but it is already very enjoyable at a young age today. Lots of oak spice on the finish and the natural black cracked pepper characteristic of the Petit Verdot.

This will easily age a decade, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see 15 years before it’s peak. Mira suggests getting at least two of those 😉 (Carl Boucher, October 7, 2026).

Sauvignon Blanc Divergence 2021 « Hughes Vineyard »

$53.00

(CWC, 16/10/22). 140 caisses produites.

2024 Divergence Signature Chardonnay | 94pts

$53.00

We’ve been talking a lot about the outstanding quality for the 2023 vintage for Chardonnay in Niagara. Divergence Chard was a prime example, and the 2024 is now showing up as a very worthy sequel to the 2023 vintage. These are two spectacular vintages for Chard. 2024 is a little bigger, bolder and richer than 2023, but overall, quality is on par.

On the nose and palate, this is very true to the vineyard source: very Grimsby Hillside, very Frontier Block. The peach is a riper peach, the lemon is a sweeter lemon, and everything you would normally expect from Chardonnay from this source is slightly juicier and riper owing to the 2024 vintage. (Carl Boucher, October 7, 2026).

2020 Divergence Brut Nature 🔥 93pts

$40.00

This is a brut nature, as in, no sugar was added during the second fermentation, which makes this traditional sparkling wine more like a classic Champagne style. Dryer, more austere, but also more vibrant. Linear and energetic, with 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, this is the kind of wine that could stand up side by side Champagne. Fresh baked cookies, croissants, bake pear pie, and fresh lemon on the nose.

The palate is more on green and yellow fruit with lime, lemon, Granny Smith apple, and almond cookies. The bubbles are fine and powerful (but not over-powering). I believe this wine can age at least 20 more years.

Jeff Moote has developed some amazing skills when it’s time to deliver spectacular traditional method wines, and in my books, he’s in the top 5 producers of traditional method wines in Canada.

If you like Benjamin Bridge, then Divergence is another winery that should be in your cellar. (Carl Boucher, October 7, 2026).

2022 Divergence Brut Chardonnay 🔥 93pts

$40.00

One of the big wine competitions in Canada gave this wine a bronze medal and 88 points, and I strongly disagree with that result. This is a spectacular wine that I gave 93 points to, and it’s a brilliant traditional method sparkling wine.

Texture is one of the best features of this sparkling, and it helps that the base Chardonnay was fermented in oak barrels. I love that winemaker Jeff Moote named this wine a Chardonnay Brut, which is unusual, but speaks to the typicity of this wine. When I got my nose in this glass for the first time, it was so clearly Chardonnay, which is not always so evident with sparkling wine. The bubbles are soft and medium sized, which increases the feeling of softness in your mouth. The residual sugar is fairly low, but the natural sweetness of the grapes are absolutely at the perfect level, which makes this bubbly not austere, but very approachable. Think peach, yellow apple, and fresh baked croissant, with a nice salty mineral finish.

It’s complex, and extremely appealing. As a Chardonnay fanatic, I’m more than impressed with the result. Well done Jeff and team! (Carl Boucher, October 7, 2026).
