Experience the world's most iconic wine regions as an insider.

Join Carl & Mira as your hosts and guides to the extraordinary!

Italy 2026 | France 2027 | Spain 2027 | Romania & Hungary 2027 | Italy 2027

What makes these trips so unforgettable?

For one thing, they're completely curated for people like you who love wine, food, great company and the most authentic experiences you can get. There are no big bus tour stops, no generic itineraries, and no big groups.

Instead, taste at iconic wineries with behind-the-scenes tours, visit the places that only locals with deep history in the area would take you to, spend time with insiders who share the best stories, and get to know local families and winemakers who are pushing the envelope and doing absolutely world class things.

We bring Canadian wines and a wine industry insider like a winemaker or winery owner with us to the main leg of each trip, whose experience adds another amazing dimension to every conversation and tasting.

These are wine-first but food-obsessed trips, and you can relax knowing all the details are taken care of. Almost everything is included after you meet up with the group, and carefully curated so you truly experience the soul of these historic wine regions.

And last, but not least...these trips are about community. We bring together like minded wine lovers from around the world, both during pre-trip Zoom calls, and during the trip itself. You'll feel like you've met some 'beaux esprits' you were always meant to befriend. And we have a lot of fun!!

So, what do you do if you'd like to join us?

You can jump right in and book by making a deposit and then selecting a payment in full or payment plan that works for you using the links below each region.

Or if you'd like to meet and have all your questions answered, we are always happy to jump on a call or you can book a Zoom with us here.

Here's the thing though. Your wine trip bucket list doesn't check itself. We're handing you the pen right now.

We'd love for you to join us! Let's do this!

Cheers,

Carl & Mira

Leg 1: Discover San Sebastián · June 24–26, 2027 · 2 nights · $2,495 per person

San Sebastián has more Michelin stars per square kilometre than anywhere else on earth except Tokyo. We arrive Thursday evening and begin with a pintxos crawl through the old town. Day two is La Concha beach, a Michelin lunch, and Carl's Canadian whites versus Basque Txakoli comparison. Then over the mountain pass into Rioja.

Leg 2: Rioja Insider · June 26–July 1, 2027 · 5 nights · $8,495 per person

Enjoy staying in Laguardia, the medieval walled village perched above the Ebro valley. Highlights include Bodegas Muga in Haro, making wine the same way since 1932. López de Heredia, where cobwebs on bottles date back to the 1940s. Marqués de Riscal, Frank Gehry's titanium wave of architecture above the village of Elciego. The Calle del Laurel in Logroño, the most famous tapas street in Spain. And on June 29, the Batalla del Vino in Haro, where the whole town dresses in white and douses each other with red wine. It has been happening since the 13th century. Kind of ironic to have a bunch of Canadians there this time, dressed in red and white (our colours?!) right around Canada Day, eh!?

Leg 3: Discover Ribera del Duero · July 1–4, 2027 · 3 nights · $3,995 per person

South through Burgos into the Golden Mile of Spanish wine. Abadía Retuerta, a 12th century monastery with a Michelin-starred restaurant in the former monks' dining hall. Vega Sicilia access pursued through our trade relationships. Hacienda Monasterio where Peter Sisseck of Pingus fame consults. Grand Farewell Dinner: Rioja Gran Reserva versus Ribera del Duero Reserva, blind, no labels, you vote. Includes group transport to Madrid for those continuing their journey home or to other travels.

Leg 1: Discover Budapest · September 25–27 · 2 nights · $1,495 per person

One of Europe's great capitals, underrated and extraordinary. The thermal baths, the Danube bridges, the ruin bars, the Great Market Hall. Carl hosts a welcome evening with Furmint and Egri Bikavér, the indigenous grape varieties that tell you exactly where you are and what is coming.

Tokaj's vineyard classification predates Bordeaux by over a century. Louis XIV called Tokaji the wine of kings and the king of wines. The cellars where it ages are carved into volcanic tuff and have been doing so since the 17th century. We taste Aszú with Disznókő and Szepsy, the family that has defined the region for generations. Carl pours Canadian ice wine alongside. Two countries, two cold-climate sweet wine traditions, one conversation.

Leg 3: Discover Romania Wine Country · September 30–October 3 · 3 nights · $2,995 per person Mira grew up here. Her family has been making wine in the Crișana hills of northwest Romania for generations. This is a homecoming that our group gets to be part of. A family dinner. Frequently Asked Questions

Can I book just one leg inside a trip?

Yes, absolutely! Every leg is designed to stand completely on its own. Book one, two, or all three. When you book all three legs, there is a significant cost savings passed on to you. Booking more than one leg also allows you to benefit from easy group transportation door to door between destinations.

What is included in every leg of every trip?

Included are accommodations at boutique hotels and vineyard properties chosen for character and quality. Private transport throughout, never a public bus. All winery visits and private tastings as noted in the itinerary. All group meals from the welcome aperitivo to the farewell dinner; rare exceptions are meals 'at leisure' as noted on the itinerary. Canadian wines available throughout the journey, poured and presented by Carl. A Canadian winemaker or wine industry insider on every main destination leg. Local expert guides. Welcome gift. Carl and Mira hosting every single evening. Pre-trip Zoom sessions to meet fellow travellers and prepare for the regions.

What isn't included?

Airfare. Some itineraries do not include transfer between the airport and our first meeting point, though we can arrange this at an additional cost. Additional wines beyond the planned flights at each meal. Trip and health insurance, which we strongly recommend. Individual spa visits, personal purchases, and any meals or activities noted as at your leisure.

How do I get started?

You can register directly at the links above to secure your spots with either a deposit, a payment in full, or a request for a payment plan that suits you. You're welcome to book a complimentary call with Carl and Mira to ask every question you have before committing. Or reply to any of our emails and we will be in touch within one business day.

What if an activity or property on the itinerary changes?

Specific wineries, hotels, and restaurants may change for a comparable or superior experience depending on availability and access. Carl and Mira travel to each destination in advance to confirm the itinerary. The soul of every trip is the curated experiences, private access to places you might not be able to go to as an individual tourist, Carl and Mira every evening, Canadian wines at the table, and the community of people around it...and that is non-negotiable.

What is the cancellation and refund policy?

We always work with members to try to accomodate your needs. You can see our full cancellation and refund policy here. In a nutshell: request a refund within 10 days of your payment at any time and receive a 100% refund minus a $200 processing fee. After 10 days: payments become non-refundable, but we will issue a full credit toward any future Carl's Wine Club international trip or Canadian event. Trips can also be transferred to another person or couple, and we will assist with this if there is a waitlist.

Do I need to know a lot about wine to enjoy these trips?

Absolutely not. Carl has spent 30 years making wine approachable and genuinely fun for people at every level. These trips are designed for people who love wine and want to understand it better, not for people who already think they know everything. The best travellers on our trips are the curious ones ready for an adventure.

Do you accommodate dietary restrictions?

Yes. Please let us know when you register and we will ensure every meal is planned accordingly. Most of our private dinners and restaurant bookings are fully customizable.
