A blend of grapes from their two Estate vineyards (Lincoln Lakeshore & Twenty Mile Bench), this 2019 vintage was aged for 18 months in French oak, with 20% new barrels. This wine seems to have found its stride now after five years of aging and gaining more complexity. The nose is purely “Pinot Noir” with earthy aromas of damp earth, grilled mushroom, violets, savoury undertones, red currants and a hint of wood spice. The palate is layered and well developed, delivering a broad spectrum from wild raspberry, red currant, blackberry, blue plum, mocha and an array of dried herbs. As expected, the tannins have melted in the structure and the wine still delivers a bright acidity. The finish offers light barrel spices like white pepper, cinnamon and cardamom.
