Another partnership with the great Laundry Vineyard, with most of the Merlot for this wine sourced there, and also some from the home vineyard on the Four Mile Creek Sub Appellation. First, I would like to start by saying this is a great Merlot for under $30. What a perfumed, elegant, structured wine, with all the elements of fruit, wood, and tannins just in the right place. On the palate, it shows soft tannins, defined blue and red berry fruits like blue plum, cassis, blueberry, red currant and crushed fresh raspberry, while the mid-palate shows a compact and expressive profile, with a classic and fresh aftertaste. The low alcohol profile delivers the house style that I’ve learned across the portfolio. I should also mention that this entry level Merlot is right in its prime window of drinkability and shines from all angles at the moment. (Carl Boucher, October 9, 2024).
