2021 was a great growing season, but the rain in September threw a wrench in many producers' operations. Chardonnay is a grape that harvests earlier in the season, so it was not as affected, and the quality remained high.

 

The personality of the North block of Trail's estate vineyard has stayed consistent over the vintages I have tasted, focused on length, energy and minerality. 

 

On the nose, expect high floral notes, pear, and green apple, and a similar palate with great flintiness, chalkiness, energy and definition on the edges. A striking finish and finesse.

 

Please pair this with something creamy, for a little glimpse of heaven. (Carl Boucher, August 12, 2026).
