2021 Vineland “Bo-teek Vineyard” Clone 458 Pinot Meunier
2021 Vineland “Bo-teek Vineyard” Clone 458 Pinot Meunier
- 90 points
- Boire de 2024 à 2030
- 100% Pinot Meunier
This is such an interesting wine and such a fascinating grape varietal. Originally from the Champagne region of France, regularly used as a blending component for sparkling wine, Pinot Meunier is a rare fact as a single varietal red wine, let alone as a single vineyard, single clone wine. This delicate red is drinking like a fruity young Pinot Noir with the earthiness of a Gamay, especially this variation of the 2021 vintage. Aromas of violets, roses and cedar, raspberry, cranberry and a hint of fresh herbs. The palate is refined and delicate offering flavours of raspberry, strawberry, sour cherry and a significant savoury component in the mid palate. The length is impressive, the tannins are lively, and the finish is filled with energy. A very different wine than the previous 2020 version, offering a much more feminine delivery. 30min decanting is suggested.
