The Winery Story

Founded by Wade Dobbin, Dobbin Estate has not cut any corners to showcase the unique terroir of their estate and cuvee offerings. The highly prized estate property was purchased in 2018, and extensive studies of the land, microclimate and soils ensued.

Fueled by a passion for connection with local food paired with wine from his own region, Wade placed the world renowned duo in charge of the vineyard and winemaking from day one: Ann Sperling and Peter Gamble.

Their first vintage was released in 2019 with quick applause from wine critics. It's no surprise given the winemaking team, and the special site they are working with. The 2020 vintage follows right in those footsteps, with scores as high as 94+ points from yours truly and as high as 96 points from other wine reviewers.

Given that some of their vines are still young, and the winemakers are just beginning to tune in to the intricacies of their estate, there is so much to look forward to from Dobbin.

It would be wise for any collector, especially those fond of Niagara wines, to hang on to these 2020s and see how they progress alongside upcoming vintages. I always like to have at least 3 of each wine: one for right now, one in a few years, and one kept as long as I possibly can...

How does this work?

Carl's Wine Club is Canada's first pan-Canadian, direct-to-consumer wine club.

We feature a different Canadian winery every 1-2 weeks with a specially curated mix of wines. You choose if and how much wine to purchase, with winery direct pricing and shipping deals.

Is the order page secure?

Yes, absolutely! We use a secure website and order page, with all credit card information processed by a PCI-compliant payment processor and bank-grade SSL encryption of your data.

What size bottles will I receive?

All bottles are 750ml (standard wine bottles) unless otherwise noted. There may be a different size bottle for instance for Magnums at 1.5L or smaller bottles for Ice Wines.

How does shipping work?

Shipping of wines is done from the featured winery directly, unless you're ordering a 'Mystery Pack' or other limited edition pack. Shipping is available to Canadian locations only. Shipping is usually completed by Courier, however Canada Post is used for rural or remote locations. You will receive a tracking number from the winery or courier system. Someone over the legal drinking age must be present at the time of delivery and provide ID to the delivery driver (this is a legal requirement). Please do your best to ensure that an adult is available to receive the order on the anticipated delivery date.
