This is getting up there with some of the very top Pinot Noirs I have tasted in 2024. Bold but refined, precise and balanced, this single vineyard Mountainview (Lincoln Lakeshore sub-appellation) is an absolute stunner! On the nose, the aromas showcase a vast world of savouriness, from sanguine to floral, ripe fruits to woody and earthy, with cranberries, currants and dark berries providing sweet contrast all over. A lively but rich palate runs with the warmth of earth and just-ripened red and dark fruits like black raspberry, red and black currant, and a hint of cranberry keeps the lively acidity waving through. Sticky tannins, rich mid-palate (with a burst of sweet tobacco leaves) and impressive complexity also highlight this promising, age-worthy Pinot Noir. This is truly the magic of the 2020 vintage.
