2023 Divergence Signature Series “Black Bank Hill Vineyard” Syrah 🔥 92+pts

For fans of “Old World” Syrah, this is the one!

91% Syrah, co-fermented with 9% Viognier from the same vineyard in the Lincoln Lakeshore appellation, at Black Bank Hill, one of Niagara’s most exciting up-and-coming producers. This is pure, clean, and authentic, with wonderful elegance and personality.

Aged for 18 months in a combination of Hungarian and French oak barrels, this Syrah is floral at first, but the fruit really starts to shine from the mid-palate onward. Aromas of violet, dried sage, tobacco, blackberry, black plum, clove, and cedar. The palate is energetic and precise, with very defined edges. Flavours of blackcurrant, plum, blueberry pie, cracked black pepper, and more oak spice.

The tannins are graceful but tenacious, and I really like the charcoal-like sensation on the finish. Complex and elegant!

Very well made.... and can age for a decade or so!
