It started as a tailgate tasting in the vineyard.
Two clones of Cab Franc. Two wines. One winemaker. Zero expectations.
But what Brian Schmidt poured that day while we were at Vineland Estate—straight from the back of his truck—stopped us in our tracks.
On one side of the road we were on: Clone 327. Deep roots, 1996 vines. Power and gravitas.
On the other: Clone 214. Planted a decade later. Aromatic lift and finesse.
Today, those two wine personalities come together in one bottle—our first-ever Member’s Celebration wine.
Sourced from the iconic Bo-Teek Vineyard and raised in a trio of amphora, barrel, and stainless steel, this is Niagara Cab Franc at its soulful best.
On the nose, it’s a cascade of blue plum, wild raspberry, black cherry, and blackcurrant, layered with violet petals, espresso, cedar, and cigar box spice.
The palate? Rich and textured—starting soft and generous, then pulling inward with focus and direction. You’ll find black forest cake, dark berries, red pepper jelly, bitter chocolate, and sweet tobacco.
The finish lingers long, laced with cracked pepper, cinnamon, and cool-climate minerality. Elegant now, but with the structure to cellar beautifully through 2030.
This is the wine that celebrates five years of stories, memories, and shared discovery.
