2019 Fred Wines “The Dark Side” Red Blend | 92pts

Dark and linear, vibrant and full of energy, this red Bordeaux blend is a fantastic snapshot of the colder 2019 vintage. The aging potential of this wine will surprise a lot of people. The nose offers glorious aromas of cassis, black cherry and plum fruit, as well as extra savoury notes, licorice and cocoa. The palate displays an unctuous mouthfeel, great acidity level, with tannins that build up from the mid-palate through to the end. Plus, a complex array of dark berries, black forest cake, cedar, pencil, tobacco, wood smoke, and chocolate. The finish offers loads of oak spices and white pepper, while the complexity and the harmony of this wine showcases Fred’s winemaking skills at their best. 298 cases made.
