Thomas Bachelder himself calls this single vineyard Pinot Noir “The Ballerina”…and it’s easy to see why! With a light and clear colour, elegance and finesse is on full display. Going forward it is good to know that this Bachelder Grand Cru Pinot Noir will be made in smaller and smaller quantities, as more of this sought-after fruit will go to the new King and Victoria winery, started by the growers of this vineyard. On the nose, a sensual parfum of red roses, violets, cranberry, raspberry, orange tea, oak spices and warm earth set the tone for what’s coming on the palate. Gentle and delicate, with soaring acidity, the flavours are surprisingly compact and expressive. Snappy tannins also provide another side of the Pinot personality. The finish is mineral driven offering wet stone and graphite like sensations, but also freshly cracked white pepper and cinnamon. This wine has so much to offer and will surprise you with every sip!
