From vines planted in 1995, the Wismer-Parke vineyard consistently delivers a high iron content which has a very specific impact on this single vineyard Pinot Noir. Made from clone 115 and 667, this wine rested in mostly neutral French barrels for just around 20 months, delivering an elegant but precise style of wine. On the nose, expressive aromas of dark cherry, ripe raspberry, potpourri, cedar box, freshly cut herbs and meaty notes. The palate is generous in texture, well layered and high in mineral sensation, a classic from this vineyard site, also noted in the 2020 tasting notes. Flavours of dark fruits are surfing over generous savoury notes, the tannins are soft and creamy, while the acid level perfectly match the fruitiness of the wine. In terms of balance and symbiosis, Thomas Bachelder checked every box on a vintage where mother nature was not at its kindest. (Carl Boucher, August 30, 2024).
