A fantastic wine for the price point! Made from estate fruits on the Golden Mile Slopes, this wine spent 12 months in neutral oak barrels. The bold, juicy, higher alcohol expression is a true reflection of the 2021 vintage which saw a heat dome in the Okanagan. Winemaker Mel Smits has found a way to extract enough acidity to create balance despite the 15.5% alcohol – well done. On the nose, aromas of red cherry, red currants, red licorice, black forest cake, and a hint of oak spice. The palate is rich, fruity, and somehow easy drinking with flavours of red cherry, black cherry, blueberry, milk chocolate, and a lingering white pepper at the end. The tannins are mellow and soft, which makes this wine a perfect crowd pleaser.  (Carl Boucher, January 2, 2025).
