2021 Leaning Post Pinot Noir | 92pts

This is a perfect snapshot of Niagara Pinot Noir, at the crossroads of “New World” fruitiness and “Old World” earthiness. Ilya Senchuk has delivered the perfect balance between these two worlds, at a ridiculously low price for a premium Pinot Noir. With 15 months of oak aging in French oak (25% new, 25% one year, 50% neutral), this wine is well layered and showcases great complexity. On the nose, aromas of red cherry, stewed strawberry, wet leaves and forest floor undertones, violets and vanilla are on full display. On the palate, flavours of raspberry, red cherry, blue plum, and cedar deliver a broad palate with approachability in mind, but don’t get fooled, the complexity is also fully present.  A tremendous effort and a great stepping-stone before hitting the single vineyard portfolio of one of the most talented Pinot winemakers in Niagara.
