This small-batch, medium-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon spent 21 months in American oak, with 50% of the barrels being new. While the vintage did not allow for bold, juicy Cabernets, the precision and concentration of flavors are absolutely on point. On the nose, dominant aromas of black cherry, black raspberry, red currant, licorice, cedar, and pencil shavings are followed by hints of vanilla and warm Christmas spices. The palate is lean (in the best way) yet expressive and direct. Despite the use of 50% new oak, there is minimal interference from the barrels, allowing the fruit to shine. Flavors of black cherry, red currant, and blackberry seamlessly melt together on the front palate, while vanilla and mint chocolate pave the way for a bright, lingering finish.
