What a fantastic surprise! This has to be one of my favourite Okanagan Chardonnays that I tasted this year. This is a little bit more trending on a Chablisienne style than a modern California Chard, showing great purity and stunning freshness. From a single vineyard located in Summerland, Haywire has been working with this source of fruits for 10 years now, but bottled it as a single vineyard for the very first time. The fermentation in concrete gave the wine great texture but preserved the purity where the fruits are absolutely shining. The nose is filled with aromas of white peach, yellow apple, orange blossom, honey dew melon and jasmine flowers. The palate is joyful, soft and concentrated reflecting the sequence of aromas absolutely perfectly. The long, mouth-watering finish delivers a complex sequence of white pepper and salty minerality, while lingering and evolving for almost a minute. (Carl Boucher, October 30, 2024).
