A throwback-style Chard: bold, oaky, rich, but also balanced and feisty. A style that I personally like, and miss a lot. This wine has spent 13 months in French oak barrels, including a whopping 50% in new oak, which explains a lot. 70% of the fruits come from the home vineyard on the Black Sage Bench, and the remaining 30% come from the Freestone Vineyard in Gallagher Lake.

 

On the nose, aromas of yellow apple, pear, creme brulee and almond cookie. The palate is soft, rich, concentrated with flavours of poached apples, pears, white peach, and a hint of citrus. The finish is lengthy and offers white pepper and oak spices. (Carl Boucher, July 29, 2026).
