I've followed Painted Rock's Cabernet Franc for years, and 2022 is a spectacular delivery. At 14.3%, this is arguably the most elegant wine of the entire current release.

 

The nose is classic BC Cabernet Franc, ripe and expressive with red pepper, violet, espresso, tobacco, and dark currant and black cherry, all showing up in the right order.

 

The palate is full, intense and powerful, but the elegance never disappears. Black cherry, red cherry, cocoa, and tobacco lead the way, with a hint of charcoal emerging on the back end. Toasty oak notes dance through the mid-palate and into the finish, beautifully integrated, never a nuisance. The spice on the finish is stunning.

 

It lingers, and lingers, and then lingers some more. A wonderful wine!
