2022 Roche Zweigelt Rose | 91pts

I’m a big fan of this Austrian grape varietal. Zweigelt makes great reds… but honestly, I often prefer it as a rosé. And this one is an absolute beauty.

It’s bone dry, bright, and crisp, with beautiful acidity… this is the ultimate versatile wine: summer sipper, incredibly food-friendly, perfect for receptions, or even as an end-of-the-night pour. Really, it works for almost any occasion.

On the nose, you get a really nice mix of floral notes, red fruit, and just a hint of citrus.

On the the palate… it’s all about precision. Raspberry, cranberry, red cherry, a bit of rhubarb… subtle citrus, a light herbal touch… and that little hint of white pepper right on the finish.

And what I really love here… is the tannin. You don’t often see that in rosé, but this one has just enough structure to give it shape and length. It’s beautifully balanced, and I think there’s some nice aging potential here.

This is more than a patio wine… this is a serious rosé.
