Well priced, crisp, light on its feet with amazing floral intensity, this wine is becoming a staple in the Black Market portfolio. Bacchus is a Vitis Vinifera cross between Riesling, Sylvaner and Muller-Thurgau and this rare BC example is from 100% estate fruits from the Conviction Ridge vineyard in Kaleden, in the Central Okanagan. On the nose, obvious grassiness aromas start you off before the floral component of jasmine and lilac appears and shines, followed by fresh pear, apricot, and a hint of fresh herbs. The palate is delightful and profound, with flavours of orchard fruits like pear, apple and peach, gooseberry, but also just a spark of pineapple to bring richness to a bright acid structure. This finish is long showing citrus bite and ginger, and display a slight salty minerality that I really appreciate, adding extra complexity to an already very intriguing wine.
