This wine has a fantastic story behind it. One of the very first wines bottled with Roussanne in Ontario, alongside Black Bank Hill, Jeff had to wait months for the VQA to approve the varietal before he could put the wine in bottle. That tells you just how rare Roussanne is in Ontario.

This blend of almost equal portions of the three sister grapes of the RhĂ´ne Valley, Roussanne, Marsanne, and Viognier, was fermented and aged mostly in second- and third-fill French oak barrels. The result is a rich and balanced white blend with truly unique characteristics.

On the nose, aromas of poached pear, orange blossom, marzipan, peach, lemon curd, and ginger. The palate is rich and lifted, showing a perfect balance between alcohol and acidity. Flavours of tropical fruit, including grilled pineapple, are joined by orange marmalade, lemon curd, vanilla, and fruit salad juice. The finish is long, showing great evolution and plenty of oak spice. You definitely need one of these in your cellar.

And this bottle is definitely coming with us on our first members’ trip to the Rhône Valley!
