For the 2023 version of the ‘Splash,’ the proportion of Viognier and Gewurztraminer are in opposite amounts compared to the crisp and lighter style of the 2022. Despite the challenging growing season in 2023, the result is a crowd-pleasing wine with expressive aromas of Asian pear, nectarine, rose petal, honeysuckle, lychee and pineapple. The palate offers a tropical approach with decent weight on the mid-palate and a slightly off-dry delivery. Layers of flavours like passionfruit, guava, ripe pear, white peach and lychee sing together without clashing. The finish is crisp and spicy with a ginger and cardamom burst at the very end. A spark of acidity pops in at the right time, which helps to increase the length.  (Carl Boucher, July 30, 2024).
