Another year, another masterful delivery from the “Rose Master.” Daniel Bontorin has learned the potential and capabilities of the unique “one and a quarter acre” vineyard in Summerland, BC known as “Tractor & Vines.” The very warm 2023 vintage turned out a very low yield, which all amounted to a different expression of Pinot Noir than the previous vintage. Bolder and richer, this year’s Tractor & Vines Rose delivers aromas of orange blossom, peach, strawberry cream and – uniquely - some pencil shaving-like mineral notes. On the palate, the soft flavours of strawberry, honey melon, cantaloupe and ripe golden apple are balanced by fresh and vibrant acidity and light tannins. The salty characteristic that we have come to expected from that small vineyard is also present in every sip again this time around. A short time in neutral barrels helped soften the edges of this very well defined wine. The finish is charismatic and appealing with notes of lemon peel intermingling with sensations of dusty road and minerality. Once again, one of the very TOP roses from Canada…if not the best! This rosé takes us to Summerland, BC, to an iconic 1¼ acre of Pinot Noir close to Okanagan Lake. Summerland has recently received three sub-GI distinctions, showing the diversity of terroir in the Central Okanagan.
