One of my very top wines tasted in 2024. This red blend is a Masterpiece! With twelve years of age, I would not have expected this wine to have such freshness and stunning and soft tannic structure. When they say that blending is a big focus at Stratus, you have to believe them…they are so very good at it. On the nose, absolutely stunning aromas of black cherry, blackberry, roasted fig, cedar box, dried roses and pencil shavings. From this sequence of layered aromas, you understand the quality of wine that’s in your glass. The palate is rich and balanced, deep and layered. The tannins have melted in the structure and the oak profile has totally soaked in. Flavours of blackberry, black currant, black licorice, dark chocolate and oak spices alternate rightfully before a charcoal-like minerality sensation finishes your experience. This wine is still in its prime and has at least two more years to shine. Absolutely FANTASTIC…. (Carl Boucher, October 28, 2024).
