This is a two-thirds Cabernet Franc and one-third Merlot blend made the right way…and took full advantage of the dry and long growing season of the wonderful 2020 vintage. Beautifully purple in the glass with gorgeous black cherry, cassis and blackcurrant aromas, this blend also has touches of wood spices and florality. Smooth but directional, really quite seductive for the vintage, harmonious & sensual, almost silky on the texture, and gripping tannins that should resolve over time. On the palate, ripe blackcurrants and cherry fruit, and crunchy, crisp acidity that is not too sharp or too obvious but lifts the palate and gives a thrill and wonderful freshness to the overall expression. A gorgeous wine: intense yet energetic, full of flavour and textural nuance. This wine is just going to get better with age and is a great candidate for the cellar. (CWC, June 27, 2024).
