The Story & People

It's no surprise that members voted Bella Terra our first-ever Ontario Member's Choice Winery of the Year. Not only do we love the wines, with their excellent value proposition, we love the people and story behind this family-owned winery.

Bella Terra, formerly known as PondView, has been 'growing in Niagara' since 1976 when owner Lou Puglisi purchased his first piece of land as a wine grower. The winery now farms close to 100 acres of vines and Lou has achieved the coveted 'Grape King' title.

Working closely with the talented Fred Di Profio (winemaker) and Marcel Morgenstern (sales), Lou has turned Bella Terra into a Niagara benchmark for excellent, bold reds and some of the most delicious whites and bubblies our country has to offer.

About the Winemaker

Born in Ontario, Fred DiProfio has been studying and working in the Niagara wine region since 1999.

Inspired by the hands-on approach of winemaking and with a genetic predisposition to wine and Italian cuisine, Fred's daily work with grapes is always rewarding.

While expressing his creativity, he strives to promote and continuously improve grape growing and wine production through persistence, diligence, and knowledge.

With each passing harvest, Fred draws inspiration from the grapevines, working from gut instinct and a connection to the diversity of the Niagara Peninsula.

He is consistently pursuing excellence within the industry and works closely with Lou Puglisi, viticulturist and owner at Bella Terra Vineyards, to deliver consistently award winning wines year after year.

How does this work?

Carl's Wine Club is Canada's first pan-Canadian, direct-to-consumer wine club.

Being a member of the wine club is FREE and you have access to our informative emails and our live virtual events with Carl to learn more about Canadian wineries.

We feature a different Canadian winery every 1-2 weeks with a specially curated mix of wines. You choose if and how much wine to purchase, with winery direct pricing and shipping deals.

Is the order page secure?

Yes, absolutely! We use a secure website and order page, with all credit card information processed by a PCI-compliant payment processor and bank-grade SSL encryption of your data.

What size bottles will I receive?

All bottles are 750ml (standard wine bottles) unless otherwise noted. There may be a different size bottle for instance for Magnums at 1.5L or smaller bottles for Ice Wines.

How does shipping work?

Shipping of wines is done from the featured winery directly, unless you're ordering a 'Mystery Pack' or other limited edition pack. Shipping is available to Canadian locations only. Shipping is usually completed by Courier, however Canada Post is used for rural or remote locations. You will receive a tracking number from the winery or courier system. Someone over the legal drinking age must be present at the time of delivery and provide ID to the delivery driver (this is a legal requirement). Please do your best to ensure that an adult is available to receive the order on the anticipated delivery date.
