This is one of the most concentrated, tightly knit Chardonnays of the 2021 vintage. Super expressive, linear, filled with tension and energy this single vineyard has so much more on the way. 2021 is the year where the Churchside takes the crown for the most outstanding Chardonnay of Closson Chase’s portfolio, even over the famed South Clos. On the nose, precise aromas of pear, nectarine, lime zest, almond cookies and seashore vegetation announce a very complex wine with multiple layers to offer. The palate is compact, explosive and so well defined, delivering perfect balance between orchard fruits, zippy citrus, floral components, minerality and bright acidity. I swear, this wine has everything. Flavours of Asian pear, lemon custard, ambrosia apple, savoury notes, baking spices, a hint of vanilla and a crazy long finish. The complexity of this wine is absolutely stunning, and I cannot wait to serve it to our guests at the BC edition of the Pan-Canadian Masterclass. (CWC, April 29, 2024).
