Malivoire
NV Malivoire “Bisous” Brut 🔥 93pts
93pts
- ON Niagara Beamsville Bench
- 63% Chardonnay, 37% Pinot Noir
Absolutely stunning. This traditional method bubbly spent 36 months on its lees before release, and it shows its splendor through impressive layers, brightness, and complexity. The balance between all its elements is a true standout. On the nose, it’s gorgeous and highly expressive, with aromas of peach, yellow apple, crabapple, chamomile, biscuit, vanilla, and almond. It’s incredibly pure and bright, with just a subtle influence of oak.The palate is creamy and soft—another standout feature of this Chardonnay/Pinot Noir blend. Speaking of Pinot Noir, I picked up several telltale characteristics on the palate, including Rainier cherry, cranberry, and a medium brioche note. These were beautifully interwoven with classic Chardonnay traits like zesty citrus and orchard fruits such as pear and peach. This wine could easily be mistaken for a $50 NV Champagne. So good—and so well priced.
Dry 5.0g/L | 12.0% ABV | Drink from 2024 to 2030
Pairings: seared scallops, crab cake and spicy aioli

Malivoire
2023 Malivoire “Moira” Rose | 91+ pts
91.5
- ON Niagara VQA Beamsville Bench
- 100% Pinot Noir
From older vines in the iconic Moira Vineyard—the crown jewel of the Malivoire portfolio, located on the famed Beamsville Bench—comes this charming Pinot Noir rosé. It’s packed with flavour, bright acidity, and an expressive, evolving finish… this rosé truly has it all. On the nose, vibrant aromas of red cherry, strawberry, peach, lime, and a hint of violet leap from the glass. The palate is equally captivating: the intensity is striking, the balance spot-on, and there's a wonderful pulse of energy throughout. Flavours of rhubarb jam, raspberry, orange zest, white peach, and maraschino cherry unfold with clarity. This well-priced rosé has beautiful definition and delivers a seductive touch of salinity on the finish. Tasting it, I couldn’t help but feel a connection to the red Moira Pinot Noir—it’s a clear expression of the vineyard’s distinct terroir.

Malivoire
2021 Malivoire “Forgotten Row” Chardonnay 🔥 93pts
93pts
- ON Niagara VQA Beamsville Bench
- 100% Chardonnay
Dry | 13.5% ABV | Drink from 2024 to 2030
From a few select rows of the Moira Vineyard, this might just be my favourite Chardonnay of the lineup. I love the way oak is handled in this wine. I mean, who said new oak is a bad thing? Not me, that’s for sure. Everything in moderation—and this wine nails it: 16 months aging, with 16% new French oak. The weight is just right, the integration is seamless, and the harmony between barrel, fruit, and acidity is absolutely flawless. On the nose, this Chardonnay leans a touch more tropical, with aromas of pineapple, melon, yellow apple, and subtle hints of vanilla and hazelnut. The palate is richer and more opulent, delivering flavours of honeydew melon, ripe peach, apple pie, and a touch of salted caramel on the finish. The length is seriously impressive, finishing with a burst of white spice, wet rock, and pulsing acidity. That extra hang time on the vine (harvested October 3) clearly made a difference. I’m a very big fan, and what a deal for $32!

Malivoire
2022 Malivoire “Small Lot” Gamay | 90pts
90
- ON Niagara VQA Beamsville Bench
- 100% Gamay Noir
Easy-drinking and approachable—these are the calling cards of this delightful Gamay. At just $22, this wine is sooo easy to love 😊. Fermented in three different vessels (50% oak, 25% concrete, and 25% stainless steel), it offers impressive complexity for the price. On the nose, it’s layered and expressive, with notes of violet, truffle, cardamom, red cherry, cranberry, blueberry, bay leaf, white pepper, and potpourri. The palate is surprisingly sophisticated for its price point—weightless yet with a medium to full body and beautifully fine, textural tannins. The flavour profile echoes the nose, and there are definite similarities to the character of the Courtney Block fruit as well. A juicy burst through the mid-palate and impressive length on the finish make this a fantastic QPR (quality-to-price ratio) pick.
Dry | 12.5% ABV | Drink from 2024 to 2028
Pairings: tomato pasta with fresh parmesan cheese, pork tacos

Malivoire
2022 Malivoire “Courtney” Gamay 🔥 92+pts
92+
- ON Niagara VQA Beamsville Bench
- 100% Gamay Noir
Young and vibrant, this single-vineyard, single-block Gamay is a true reflection of the extraordinary 2022 vintage for Gamay on the Beamsville Bench. Some winemakers in the region are boldly declaring that “’22” could go down as one of the most memorable vintages of the last quarter century—and this wine makes a strong case for it. The nose is unmistakably Gamay, offering classic aromas of potpourri, violet, crushed raspberry, and blue plum, with a hint of Christmas allspice. There’s no doubt what varietal is in the glass. On the palate, it’s stunningly vibrant and energetic, revealing layers of complexity. Flavours of black raspberry, plum, red and black cherry unfold beautifully, with dark chocolate and white pepper lingering on the finish. And that finish—wow. You can’t miss it. It’s easily the most attractive feature of the wine: soooo long and endlessly evolving. One of my highest-rated Gamays to date—easily on par with Bachelder-level quality.
Dry | 13.0% ABV | Drink from 2026 to 30
Pairings: cured duck prosciutto, slow roasted pheasant

Malivoire
2021 Malivoire “Old Vines” Foch | 90+pts
90+
- VQA Ontario
- 100% Marechal Foch
This is a true classic from the Malivoire portfolio. Producing Foch since the very beginning, they’re known for crafting some of the best examples of this varietal in Niagara. Sourced from vines planted in 1972 (an “Old Vines” designation that’s well earned), this is the perfect BBQ wine. Fermented in stainless steel and aged for over a year and a half in American oak, this wine is solidly built, offering depth and impressive texture. On the nose, it shows unique and compelling aromas of black fruits, raw meat, dried herbs, and Christmas spices. The palate is savoury and rich, with soft, mild tannins and flavours of blackberry, preserved plum, dried blueberry, sweet tobacco leaf, and dark chocolate. A blast of iron—almost bloody—emerges after the mid-palate, delivering that unmistakable and unique character you only get from a really good Foch.
Dry | 12.0% ABV | Drink from 2024 to 2028
Pairings: spicy chili, BBQ ribs

About Malivoire

Malivoire was founded in 1996 on the Beamsville Bench in Niagara, Ontario. The Bench is one of Canada’s top wine regions, known for its mineral-rich soils and cool climate. These natural features help produce wines with freshness, balance, and complexity.
Since the beginning, the winery focused on small-lot, sustainably made wines that reflect the land. It is best known for Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Gamay—wines that are often compared to some of the best in Burgundy. Year after year, they earn top scores and high praise from wine lovers across the country.
The winery’s founder, Martin Malivoire, brought his creative background in film to the world of wine. His goal was to make thoughtful, expressive wines, and that vision still shapes the winery today. For many years, winemaker Shiraz Mottiar helped bring that vision to life, and in 2023, he took over as General Manager and passed the torch to Elisa Mazzi as head winemaker.
Elisa was born in Verona, Italy, near the Valpolicella wine region, where she grew up surrounded by vineyards. She studied winemaking at university in Trento and gained experience around the world, including in Canada and New Zealand. She joined the winery in 2011 as a cellar hand, and over time, her hard work and skill earned her the role of Winemaker. Elisa continues to shape the winery’s future, bringing her own passion and perspective to every bottle.
