This 2020 version of Clos du Soleil’s flagship wine is an absolute stunner! A perfect mix between elegance, power and concentration delivers the perfect snapshot of the Similkameen Valley. Aromas of new leather, ripe plum, aromatic herbs and blackberry, black currant and pencil lead emerge from the glass. The savoury, elegantly structured palate offers ripe black cherry, blueberry sauce, dark plum, blackberry, star anise, vanilla and fresh tobacco leaves, alongside a backbone of fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity. The oak presence is definitely there, but promising and welcoming, so it doesn’t bring negative perception.  The finish is spectacularly long: a never ending lingering feeling of fresh cracked pepper and other oak spices. This wine is just about to hit its stride and will be a defining Canadian star in your cellar for at least a decade.
