This wine is eloquently structured and showcases the full advantage of the long, dry 2020 growing season. Cab Franc from the Twenty Mile Bench with Merlot from the Four Mile Creek, this Niagara red blend has a hedonistic profile and a fantastic overall delivery. The super expressive nose is elegant, nuanced, perfumed, subtle and pure, with aromatic finesse that I have rarely experienced before. The aromas that I refer to are mostly black cherry, cherry wood, black forest cake, violets, vanilla and subtle oak spices. With aeration the floral notes expand. Super-concentrated and vibrant, this blend has incredible finesse on the medium- to full-bodied palate. Flavours include dark cherry, blueberry, black raspberry, cassis jam, salty minerality and loads of spices like white pepper and clove. Such great brilliance at the finish, where the power builds very steadily. It’s like a crescendo…still young, but already irresistibly delicious. An hour of decanting is suggested.
