Delicious, crisp and well balanced, this “Vin Gris” of Pinot Noir sourced its fruits from the Garnet Valley property in Summerland. Fermented 100% in small concrete eggs, the winemaker took only the free run juice (that is, the juice that flows freely from freshly picked grapes before they are pressed, when the bunches of grapes are stacked up on top of each other) to make an unfiltered rose wine. On the nose, aromas of fresh picked strawberry, crabapple, ambrosia apple, a hint of red cherry, fresh herbs and cream soda. The palate is soft and creamy, probably from the lees aging, delivering flavours of strawberry, raspberry, peach, white cranberry and a nice sequence of white spices on the finish. A slight stony minerality also showed up after the mid-palate, which is consistent with the fruits from the Garnet Valley ranch. (Carl Boucher, October 30, 2024).
