For the first time in many years, Intersection departs from their usual equal split of Merlot, Cab Franc, and Cab Sauv. With the exceptional 2020 vintage, winemaker Mel Smits chose to emphasize Merlot, showcasing it as the estate's signature grape. The result is both efficient and delicious, setting a new stylistic direction for a winery renowned for its Merlot.

Sourced from the Alluvia and Silica blocks of the estate vineyard, the Merlot expresses a true sense of place. The nose reveals bright aromas of cassis, blueberry jam, black cherry, dark chocolate, vanilla, with hints of herbs, pencil shavings, and cedar. The palate is rich and powerful, delivering a robust wine that will benefit from a few more years of aging to integrate the oak and tannins. Expect dominant flavours of black cherry, crème de cassis, red licorice, blackcurrant, mocha, and sweet tobacco leaves.
