2020 Southbrook “Laundry Vineyard” Cabernet Franc 🔥 93+pts Carl’s Wine Club

This is an exceptional Cabernet Franc with tremendous depth of flavour, as well as fascinating finesse and complexity. It took a little long to open up but when it got going, holy smokes, watch out! This single vineyard Cab Franc (clone 214) has so much to offer. From the North block of the sought-after Laundry Vineyard in the Lincoln Lakeshore sub-appellation, this small batch wine displays all the attributes of the one-of-a-kind 2020 vintage – ripeness, boldness, definition and power. On the nose, expressive aromas of black cherry, blackberry, red pepper, cherrywood, mocha, dry thyme and pipe tobacco. The palate is enthusing, effortless and explosive, delivering flavours of black cherry, black forest cake, blueberry sauce, vanilla, coffee grinds, and a pantry of Christmas spices on a very long and bright finish. This wine is sensationally complex and left a mark in my sensory memory. At this price, this is impressive, I would not hesitate to pay an extra $20 on the asking price: this is that good.
